The venue for the fifth edition of Pettah Interchange is a presently abandoned colonial building that has stood for over 100 years in the heart of Colombo. The Transworks House, which originally housed the Ceylon Public Works Department and later served as Fort Police headquarters, is one of the last remaining buildings of its kind in the area left in a neglected state, though it will soon be renovated to serve as the entrance and lobby to the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
The 2015 edition of Pettah Interchange will take place inside the sprawling and dilapidated Rio Cinema & Hotel complex in the heart of Colombo's Slave Island district. With a lineup of over a dozen musicians from Germany, India, Pakistan, The Maldives and Sri Lanka, Pettah Interchange aims to once again deliver a high-quality slice of the Berlin underground club experience in Colombo.
Bang Bang and Jambutek Recordings join forces to bring you the first in a series of club takeovers designed to breathe new life into forgotten spaces around the city. Midnight Monkey will take place at the B52 Night Club at the Grand Oriental Hotel, a neglected but well designed club space in the heart of the city that was one of the first hotspots of Colombo's nightlife scene in the 1970s & 1980s. As an intimate session of smooth, deep and intricate house and techno grooves starting at midnight, the event will also serve as an after party for the BorderMovement Lounge session happening earlier in the night.
